School of Biological Sciences

Research

The School of Biological Sciences has a strong, collaborative and diverse history of research with highly interactive groups of faculty. We are particularly focused in four research areas: physiology of plants and animals, ecology and evolution, systematics and molecular biology. Our research collaborations extend to other departments and colleges on campus, including: the School of Molecular Biosciences, the Center for Reproductive Biology; the Institute of Biological Chemistry; the College of Agricultural, Human & Natural Resource Sciences; and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

We have strong interactions and regular shared meetings and seminars with faculty at the nearby University of Idaho.

Our faculty also collaborate with researchers throughout the US and around the world. We have a strong record of extramural research funding, including current grants from the National Science Foundation, US Department of Agriculture and National Institutes of Health. Please visit our individual faculty web pages for more information on our internationally-recognized research programs!
