Marion Ownbey Herbarium

The Plants of Smoot Hill

The Smoot Hill Reserve, located north of Pullman, is maintained by the Department of Botany, Washington State University, as a remnant of natural Palouse vegetation. Following is a partial catalogue, originally compiled by Keith Farrell, of seed plants occuring on the reserve. The list is very similar to the list that was available for the Rose Creek Reserve at the time, although a few taxa have been added. Those families indicated by the symbol "•" have been updated to reflect current taxonomy. Taxonomic updates were conducted in spring 1998 by Mark Fishbein as part of the Marion Ownbey Herbarium's ongoing project to provide a new flora of Southeast Washington.

This list is not complete nor confirmed. Please let us know of additions!
