My interests center primarily on the ecology, zoogeography, and systematics of alpine birds, but also include the ecology of selected other avian species, the ecology and distribution of small mammals, and the phytogeography of alpine plants. Current projects include: work on the control of distribution of alpine birds in the higher mountain ranges of the Great Basin; controls of bill dimorphism and disparate sex ratios in Rosy-Finches; coevolution and feeding ecology of alpine birds in the Great Basin; and the phytogeography of alpine plants in the Great Basin. I am also working on a book on the mammals of Washington.
