
Our collection of 16,700 birds includes approximately 14,000 study skins plus tissue samples (stored at -80F), 1,600 fluid-preserved birds, over 1,000 skeletons, 250 sets of eggs, a small number of nests, more than 1,000 wings, and some digestive contents/organs.
This collection comprises about 1,050 species across 146 families. Half of our bird collection is from Washington (8,400 specimens). We have a notable number of birds from Idaho (2,500 specimens) and the Northern Mariana Islands (350 specimens), though our collection includes birds from all over the world.
